Company History

Continental Wood Products was founded in 1991 and is now part of the Norvik Group of Reyjkavik. Based in Westerham, Kent, the company has expanded significantly since its inception, and is now one of the largest stockists of softwood in the UK. Norvik owns three sawmills in Latvia (Byko, CED and Vika Wood), EWP in Estonia and Jarl Trae in Sweden. In addition, Norvik owns long term forest cutting rights in Russia. This gives CWP a unique supply source amongst UK stockholders of constructional softwoods.

All stocks are kept at the port in Baltic Distribution Ltd Essex which is run by Baltic Distribution Ltd, also a part of the Norvik Group. Covering 46 acres, this operation handles birch, pallet wood, sheet materials, fencing products and steel. There is also on-site treatment offering Tanalith E in both green and brown to suit customer's requirements.

CWP charters all its own vessels, and has 9/10 vessels a month discharging at Baltic Distribution Ltd. This is all part of the logistics, which enable the company to control its quality products from the forest to final delivery to the customer in the UK.

The product range now comprises of carcassing, fencing, birch lumber, Portugese pine, fresh sawn specifications, pallet wood, furniture components and joinery redwood. For more details click the links or visit the product range section of the site.
